PORTFOLIO: About The Art Storm Ritter's collections are inspired by her passion in nostalgia and emotional synesthesia. With an ambidextrous style of painting, music and theatrical cinema is the foundation of all expression. The right hand is structure and the left, emotion. The surrealist and expressionistic paintings are intended to transport the viewer into an otherworldly plane of soulful retreat and reflection. Enlightenment and spiritual escapism is at the core of her paintings, visualizing a universe where " The Cool People " take a featured role. Primarily using latex paint and acrylic-based leather paint, she layers and sculpts texture with brushes and palette knives. Storm often uses aging techniques, influenced from experience in theatrical scenic painting. The collective work appears to exist long before modern creation, giving an old world quality to her final paintings. With over 30 pieces already completed since May 2024, she's focused on opening a new solo show by the end of the year. A typical day for the artist starts at 5am in her living quarters, entering into the studio space by 6am. Daily, Storm works on stretched and unstretched canvases in rotation, categorizing themes by color and style. Below are various process images shot by the artist of her space from early August. Tattoo Work: "The Cool People" & "The Cool Cats" Since 2020, Storm began tattooing variations of "The Cool People" and "The Cool Cats" for clients at her West Village Private Studio and Storm Ritter Gallery in Meatpacking. As of summer 2024, Storm is offering artist authenticated tattoo designs for clients to purchase for their tattoo artists. Request a quote on the online commission form . Auction Donation: Girl Scouts of Greater New York Fundraiser Gala With past work in arts mentorship with Girl Scouts of Greater New York , Storm donated a custom made canvas to their Annual Gala auction. The painting featured the classic girl scout colors with a powerful line-up of The Cool People , evoking friendship and unity. Titled, "The Council of Cool" the piece embodied the essence of their organization. Storm attended the gala, downtown Manhattan, and the painting raised $2500 for their new camp community center upstate New York. The new building and camp location is intended to be accessible to all young girls involved in the Girl Scouts to build long lasting relationships and confidence. October - December 2021 SOLO EXHIBITION 36 Little West 12th Street Meatpacking, NYC "REALM OF THE COOL PEOPLE" The fine art collection opens a door into another existing world around us. Esoterically led, the series invites souls to identify themselves within with spiritual themes and esoteric imagery alluding tarot cards. Storm paints with her subconscious and conscious in tandem to achieve organic divinity; the spiritual figures of The Cool People are individually birthed with the emotional left hand and structural right hand. Each uniquely spawned with duality, their evolution allows them to ascend as storytellers in a surrealist universe. With gold accents and a focus on a baroque aesthetic, the collection encourages the viewer to fall into trance-like realms in a dimension perhaps familiar.
